Spam Filters
What's an e-mail spam filter? How does it work? How do you enable spam filtering?
A spam filter is a software app that’s installed on a POP3/IMAP email server and ‘scans’ all incoming emails so as to impede any unsolicited ones from entering a certain mailbox. Several instances of such emails would be: offers for pills or cash, fraudulent bank statements or attachments that contain malicious software sent with the intention to infect your computer. Email filters typically ‘scan’ the content of an email message and if they spot some keywords or other suspicious content, they either erase the email message or forward it to the Spam/Junk folder instead of the Inbox folder. Certain hosting companies combine their own spam filters with up-to-the-minute databases from spam-monitoring organizations, so as to ensure better security for their customers. Such databases contain patterns, mail server IPs and other info about spam emails recently uncovered by these organizations.

Spam Filters in Shared Website Hosting
Our
shared website hosting servers use one of the best anti-spam filters out there. It is called SpamAssassin and is offered with each package, so in case you host your domains with our company, you can select one of the 5 levels of safety that the spam filter offers for any mailbox that you’ve got here. You can do this with just 2 clicks from the Email Manager section of the Hepsia Control Panel that’s used to manage all hosting accounts. SpamAssassin examines the header field and the content of every email, gives it a spam score and then continues based on the level that you’ve opted for. Every email account can have a different setting and you can choose whether the messages that the anti-spam filter marks as spam should be deleted or forwarded to a different mailbox where you can view them later, so as to avoid deleting a genuine email. Switching to another level or disabling the protection is also amazingly easy.

Spam Filters in Semi-dedicated Hosting
If you get a
semi-dedicated server package from our company and if you set up one or more email accounts with any of the domain names hosted under the account, you’ll be able to activate the advanced, five-level SpamAssassin anti-spam filter that we offer and keep all unsolicited messages out of your inbox. This option is accessible through the Hepsia Control Panel’s Email Manager section and it can be enabled or disabled for any mailbox at any time. You can also configure the level of safety with several mouse clicks in case junk emails continue to enter your inbox or the spam filter starts removing authentic emails. As you can select whether the spam should be deleted straight away or forwarded to some other email address, you can set up spam@domain.com, for instance, and check all filtered email messages there, so as to ensure that you won’t miss an email message that you require. The messages that the email filter permits to go through will still appear in your inbox.
